Pregnancy can be quite demanding, I know. Among all those changes and things you have to adjust to during these expecting months, you have to rethink your hygiene (including your intimate hygiene) and the products you use for: your skin, hair, lips, and private parts. This means you need to look out for intimate wash that is free from nasty irritants and safe to use during pregnancy.
Here I’m sharing my favorite pregnancy-safe feminine washes that are free from toxic chemicals and can help you take care of your private area in the right way during this special time!
Article By Edna Skopljak – Medical Doctor (MD)
During those nine months you may need to reconsider your whole skincare to make sure it doesn’t pose any risk to your unborn baby and avoid all those harsh chemicals and irritants and choose healthier options instead.
For some moms, it is easier, while for others it is more challenging. Many women find it difficult to change their everyday hygiene routines. Plus, checking all those strange and almost impossible to pronounce ingredients can be really time-consuming.
Nevertheless, choosing pregnancy-safe products is highly important.
Let’s talk about products for feminine hygiene now. Even if you are not pregnant, choosing the intimate wash is something you need to pay extra attention to. But, once you are pregnant, carefully choosing products (soap, wash, oil, wipes) for intimate hygiene is essential.
Did you know that lots of intimate washes contain ingredients that are not safe to use during pregnancy? Taking into consideration the closeness of the baby and the risk of infections that could be transmitted to the womb, it’s completely normal that you’re concerned.
As you probably don’t want to risk any complications during this beautiful period of your life, it is better for you to learn more about how to safely maintain the hygiene of your intimate area and which products are safe for you to use.

7 Best Pregnancy-Safe Feminine Washes & Vulva Cleansers
In order to maintain your intimate hygiene safely during pregnancy, you have to ensure that the intimate wash product is free from any harsh chemicals. Therefore, I prepared a list of products to make this choice easier (and safer!) for you.
Best intimate hygiene washes for excepting moms are:
1. Kushae Gentle 2-in-1 Feminine Foaming Wash
The first on my list is Kushae Gentle 2-in-1 foaming wash – my absolute favorite intimate wash for pregnant women (all women, in fact!). It’s an all-natural wash, packed with minerals. Its ingredients work to reach the pH balance of your vagina, which is important for intimate health. What’s more, it reduces odors, dissolves bacteria, and immobilizes yeast – all of which may cause you discomfort.
What I especially love about this intimate wash is that – it is created by a gynecologist. So you can rest assured your vagina is not getting any harmful chemicals. You can use it on sensitive skin, and its ingredients are safe even for infants – therefore, your unborn baby is fine too.
Kushae intimate wash is based on distilled water, aloe vera, decyl glucoside (a mild cleanser that helps keep the skin’s natural balance), French green clay, and organic oils and extracts.
According to the reviews from moms who have been using this product, this is a great intimate wash that keeps them feeling fresh and worry-free throughout the day. Also, several women reviewed it’s super gentle on sensitive skin – only when they started using Kushae foaming wash there was finally no more irritation.
Why Do Moms Love It?
- It is a glycerin-free intimate wash (and doesn’t contain any other harsh chemicals)
It is quite challenging to find a glycerin-free intimate wash and Kushae’s wash doesn’t contain it. Glycerin may (in some cases) cause yeast infections. Besides, this intimate wash is free from parabens, alcohol, artificial colors, sulfates, and SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate) – all of them can cause you irritation, or other troubles.
- It is created by OB/GYN specialist
We all trust our gynecologists, right? Someone who spends so many years studying and specializing in this field definitely “knows the knowledge”. Gynecologist is the right address for questions about intimate hygiene, as OB/GYN is also the one who sees vaginal infections, and yeast infections on a daily basis.
Keep In Mind
- The pump clogs fast
The only disadvantage of this product is its packaging. The pump keeps clogging, so it can be inconvenient from time to time, especially if you’re in a hurry. However, if that happens, just soak the packaging in the hot water, or put it under a hot shower, and the pump will unclog.
2. Rael Natural Foaming Feminine Wash
Another natural intimate wash that lots of moms recommend is Rael’s Natural Foaming Feminine Wash. It has a short list of plant-based ingredients, so you can use it during pregnancy, and rest assured it’s safe.
This intimate wash is based on purified water. It contains coco-betaine, which is a surfactant, foaming agent, viscosity-increasing agent, emulsifier, and conditioner (keep in mind that coco-betaine is not the same as cocamidopropyl betaine – which is often considered unsafe for pregnant ladies).
Rael’s feminine wash also contains glycerin and decyl glucoside-a mild cleanser that helps you maintain pH balance. It also contains p-anisic acid (which keeps unwanted bacteria away), glyceryl caprylate, levulinic acid, and sodium levulinate, which helps to condition and soothe the skin, and actually exhibits some antimicrobial action, too!
Opinions of women who’ve made a purchase and tried this wash are really positive. They say it’s easy to use, easy to rinse off, and overall great for everyday intimate hygiene.
Why Do Moms Love It?
- It is certified as natural
Rael’s intimate wash is actually certified by COSMOS NATURAL (Natural and Organic Certification For Cosmetics) and it is made with 98.2% of naturally derived ingredients – only 8 of them, derived from coconut, basil, and sugarcane.
- Maintains your vagina’s natural pH balance to alleviate odor and irritation
Some of the ingredients are actually aimed at maintaining the pH balance of your vagina and – therefore – make your intimate hygiene much easier.
Keep In Mind
- Dryness
Some pregnant moms reported that the product may cause some dryness in the vagina. While the chances are really low, be aware it can happen.
- Not for women prone to yeast infections
It contains glycerin, so if you have frequent yeast infections, think about choosing another product.
3. VeeFresh VeeGentle Feminine Wash
This is an ultra-sensitive wash for your vagina, even during pregnancy. It has a very simple formula infused with apple cider vinegar, improving your vaginal balance. It is made with zero nasty chemicals, so you may enjoy your pregnancy concerns free.
Pregnant moms who have been using this product are very satisfied with its effectiveness. They state the VeeGentle resolved their issues with itching and odors and suggested supplementing intimate hygiene with the wipes from the same brand.

- Preservatives
While this wash is still way safer than many popular options on the market, it does contain some preservatives, for example sodium benzoate1 (unfortunately this one is hard to avoid, even safe baby washes often contain this ingredient!).
4. Ina Labs Balancing Cleanser
Ina Labs intimate wash is another gynecologist-developed intimate cleansing product with a very gentle, plant-based formula. As it doesn’t contain any harmful ingredients and is pH-appropriate you can use it safely during pregnancy, too.
Another good part is that it’s hypoallergenic, and formulated for sensitive skin.
Among other, naturally-derived ingredients, it also contains panthenol, which is also often used in topical treatments for deep moisturizing and wound healing.
Furthermore, it contains the probiotics, Lactobacillus. Probiotics are good for your intimate microbiome and they strengthen natural intimate defenses. The lactic acid in this intimate wash creates an environment favorable to the balance of the microbiomes and therefore protects you from intimate discomfort.
Why Do Moms Love It?
- Soothes skin & keeps infections at bay
Panthenol is great for soothing the irritated or damaged skin, and the probiotics (Lactobacillus, and lactic acid) in this product are great for your intimate hygiene, and maintaining a healthy microbiome of your vagina – preventing infections.
- It is lightweight
The important thing to consider when choosing the right intimate wash is how easy is it to use. Ina’s formula is really lightweight – but still super effective and refreshing, causing no irritation or skin stripping.
Keep In Mind
- Pricey
Some moms find this product expensive.
5. Uqora Wash pH-Balanced Vulva Cleanser
Uqora’s intimate wash is a specialized vulva cleanser. Its (very short list) of ingredients are those already included in what is naturally present in the vagina – which is important to keep you feeling balanced during pregnancy.
This vulva cleanser also contains Lactobacilli and lactic acid, both of which have positive effects on your intimal microbiome, as well as the hydrogen peroxide that washes away unwanted bacteria.
Its pH range is the same as vaginal pH, so you can use this intimate wash without worries even during pregnancy.
Moms-to-be who have been using this product say that it is easy to use, and it showed to be great for their intimate hygiene and the health of their vagina, without any overpowering scents (that’s also positive if you become sensitive to smells during pregnancy).

Uquora vulva cleanser compounds are all-natural, keeping the pH of the area low – as it should be, with the help of hydrogen peroxide, maintaining the healthy pH balance of your vulva (and vagina) and, therefore, maintaining their health.
- It has a very short list of ingredients
As it has a very simple formula, which contains only five ingredients, you can rest assured you are not using any harmful ingredients for your intimate area during pregnancy.
Keep In Mind
- Packaging
It may be inconvenient, as you may have to shake the bottle beforehand to thicken it up and make it foamier.
6. Deo Doc Intimate Cleansing Oil
Deo Doc’s intimate wash is formulated with exclusively plant-based oils. Those oils have soothing properties and they restore the natural moisture balance of the intimate area.
As the ingredients are entirely natural, consisting of several plant oils and tocopherol (vitamin E), this is one of the best intimate washes for use during pregnancy.
Furthermore, it is both gynecologically and dermatologically tested – in fact, it is developed by female doctors and gynecologists.
Deo doc’s cleansing oil is really nourishing and leaves you with a light protective layer post-shower.
There is so much positive feedback from the pregnant and postpartum women, stating that the cleansing oil is really helpful and effective, and leaves the skin smooth and hydrated. Furthermore, those who have sensitive skin could finally forget they had that issues after trying this oil.
Why Do Moms Love It?
- It contains only natural oils and vitamins

Of course, zero harsh chemicals – Deo doc’s intimate wash is entirely natural.

The Honey Pot’s sensitive intimate wash is a plant-based product for your feminine hygiene. It balances your pH, moisturizes, and soothes your intimate area. By that, it supports the health of your vagina. It is approved by dermatologists as hypoallergenic.
It is based on lavender and calendula, both of which soothe and calm your vagina, supporting its health, and organic apple cider vinegar which maintains a healthy pH range.
This intimate hygiene wash has pretty positive reviews, especially among moms-to-be prone to bacteria in their vagina. One of them actually wrote that the doctor recommended her this wash when she was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis – and it worked. Plus, they state it’s good for everyday feminine hygiene – and it’s not expensive.
Why Do Moms Love It?
- It prevents unwanted bacteria to colonize your vagina
The ingredients found in this intimate wash promote intimate health, by optimizing pH and preventing the growth of the bacteria that may cause you irritation and infection (or infections).
Keep In Mind
- New formula is not that safe
Make sure you check the ingredients list, as some moms have reported formula change. Old version contains colloidal silver, unfortunately they removed this ingredient in new formula! Instead the new version (2022) contains more preservative, for example phenoxyethanol – which is not recommended for pregnant women! Make sure to order this older formula, not the new one.
Final Decision: What Is The Best Feminine Wash While Pregnant?
I shared with you the safest options for feminine hygiene during pregnancy, which will help you maintain your intimate health and batch all the negative effects of pregnancy hormonal changes on your vagina.
My favorites are Kushae Gentle 2-in-1 Feminine Foaming Wash, and Deo Doc Intimate Cleansing Oil, to be included in your intimate hygiene during (healthy) pregnancy – depending on your preferences. I personally love DeoDoc as it is in the form of an oil-based wash. If oils are not your thing, try Kushae foaming wash which is water-based. Furthermore, both are developed by gynecology specialists. That says enough.
